Cobblestone streets, brisk mornings, and a global perspective—just another day for Olivier Delenclos, VP Global Business Development. Beginning his mornings in Brussels, Olivier often takes Sherlock, his golden retriever, along for early calls with Asia. “My calls to Asia mark the start of my day. It’s a routine that keeps me energized,” Olivier shared, noting how these walks help him center his thoughts.
Today, Olivier’s experience and leadership play an essential role in steering Prolitec’s global growth. Whether coordinating across time zones or ensuring his team feels valued, Olivier’s approach reflects his belief in the power of human relationships. Step into Olivier’s world for a narrative that intertwines leadership, strategy, and a lot of human connections! Tune in and be inspired!
From Normandy to global visionary
Hailing from Normandy, Olivier’s journey to global leadership began with humble roots. “I started at Prolitec as an intern,” he recalled. Back then, he was knocking on doors in the French retail sector, selling Prolitec’s products in malls and parking lots. “It was tough but formative. I learned resilience and adaptability early on.”
His dedication soon caught the eye of leadership, propelling him to an Account Manager role in the U.S. Midwest. Over the years, Olivier’s career expanded to managing European markets, establishing partnerships in Asia and the Middle East, and now steering Prolitec’s global growth. Yet, despite his success, Olivier remains grounded.
One anecdote from his early years he loves to share? His charming strong French accent. “When I started working internationally, our CEO, Richard, suggested I take lessons to soften my accent. Then one day, I landed a major client because of it! Since then, Richard has been happy to let me keep it,” he said with a laugh. Olivier often jokes with his team, encouraging them to make him repeat things if needed. French arrogance doesn’t suit Olivier!
The secret rituals that keep Olivier grounded
Olivier’s days are a seamless blend of responsibility, family, and moments of personal balance. While managing Prolitec’s global business, he finds creative ways to stay connected to his roots and recharge.
When traveling, Olivier always brings a familiar touch from home: his favorite ambient scent from Brussels. “It’s a small ritual,” he explained. “Bringing that familiar fragrance to hotel rooms makes me feel grounded, no matter where I am.”
Back at home, evenings are moments of dynamic balance. Whether he’s negotiating with an international client or organizing a laser tag game for his child’s birthday party, Olivier effortlessly mixes work and family life.
Physical activity is another cornerstone of his routine. He dedicates time to either his fitness bike or tennis practice with his coach. “Sport keeps me sharp,” he said. “It’s my way of staying energized for everything I do.” For Olivier, combining discipline with joy isn’t just a personal philosophy; it’s a value he encourages across Prolitec: “As long as the work is done, there’s no reason not to enjoy what you do.”
The human side of leadership
At Prolitec, Olivier is known for his relentless focus on people. “I’m constantly calling my team,” he said with a smile. “I want to ensure we’re all connected and aligned.” This ethos is woven into his daily routine and annual planning, from organizing trips to visiting team members across continents to hosting Prolitec’s much-anticipated yearly seminar. “It’s not just work; it’s a time to bond and celebrate our successes together,” he added.
Olivier’s ability to foster connection extends beyond his professional life. For over 20 years, he has remained deeply committed to his close-knit group of friends from business school. “We’ve been through everything together,” he said. “They’re like family, and we’ve always supported each other.” Olivier’s talent for nurturing relationships makes him not just a respected leader but also a steadfast friend.
Always planning for success
Olivier is a planner at heart. Whether it’s a family vacation, a strategic business move, or a personal goal, his mind is always a few steps ahead. “I’m constantly thinking about the next three months, the next three years,” he said. This forward-thinking approach has been instrumental in Prolitec’s success, especially during challenging times like the COVID-19 pandemic. “We focused on resilience,” he recalled. “We protected our team and worked on a long-term growth plan, diversifying across markets and strengthening inter-departmental collaboration. Today, those decisions are paying off.”
Independence and opportunities
What Olivier loves most about his role is the freedom to innovate. “I’ve had the chance to create my own path,” he said. “From shaping my role to exploring diverse cultures in a single day, there’s always something new to build and learn.”
This entrepreneurial spirit is something he encourages in his team. “I want everyone to feel empowered to take initiative and make an impact. Mistakes are fine if we learn from them.”
A vision for the future
As Prolitec closes another successful year, Olivier’s message is one of gratitude and excitement. “We’ve achieved so much, but there’s still so much more to do,” he said. “The beauty of Prolitec is that we’re always evolving. There’s room for everyone to thrive and contribute.”
